Thank you to my sister-in-law and former coworker, Iris Cerella, for recommending La Zucre Cake Boutique, located in Winter Park.

I stopped in to see what types of baked goods they had to offer.

Inside the shop, it was very clean and quaint. I could see them holding a tea party here.

They have an open kitchen setup so you can watch their process.

    They have freshly made cupcakes.

Thanks to Luis, I was able to try one of their cupcakes. It was really delicious!

I got to speak with the owner and Luis. Both of them are super awesome and friendly. I had a great experience with them. They were extremely helpful and provided wonderful feedback.

Their prices are reasonable and the quality is amazing!

I ordered a cake from them for my wife’s baby shower and couldn’t be happier with what they came up with.

The details and design were exactly what we were looking for, not to mention, it tasted so good!

  • Matcha Cafe – Surabaya, Indonesia

    Matcha Cafe – Surabaya, Indonesia

After a busy day with the university event, I asked Budi to take me somewhere that served matcha.

Dewi, another friend of mine, mentioned that her cousin run a matcha resturant and that everything there was matcha!

On the outside, you can see the nicely designed sign with a green color theme.

    Hello matcha panda!

Inside, there was a really cool mural that looked like it was hand-painted.

The menu design was well done. I loved the calligraphy.

The matcha looked like great quality and their presentation was awesome.

They have traditional Japanese green tea served with auzki and shiratma.

Dewi’s cousin showed us the traditional Japanese green tea.

We ordered their signature ice cream parfait.

    Squid Okonomiyaki

    Grilled cheese sandwich

    Chicken Karaage

    Iced fruit green tea

The matcha soft serve was great quality!

The quality of the matcha was authentic so if you love matcha, this place is totally for you.

Dream Of Kahyangan Art Resto – Indonesia

Thank you to the Universitas Ciputra staff and faculty for inviting us to a lunch meeting.

The restaurant we ate at had a unique ambiance and installation.

The food was a fusion of Chinese and Javanese, along with Indonesian cuisine.

The menu was in Bahasa so I couldn’t recall everything we ordered but I do remember that everything was delicious. Check it out if you’re ever in Indonesia.

    Universitas Ciputra – Surabaya, Indonesia

After having our breakfast and coffee, we headed to Universitas Ciputra.

Universitas Ciputra Surabaya (Ciputra University) was established in 2006 and is a non-profit private higher education.

I want to thank Christian Ang, for arranging this event. Also, a thank you to Natasha, for joining me during the lecture and supporting the local community.

I initially approached Natasha about sharing her experience as a food blogger and building her brand. We ended up cominh up with an idea for a lecture, “Constructing Your Brand Through Passion.” Our goal was to inspire young students to try and find their passion and dream.

Below was the press release for the event, written by my editor, Larnna Thompson:

ORLANDO, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2015) — Tony “Nakanari” Shiau travels to Jakarta, Indonesia to speak about the Mai Hiro brand alongside food stylist, Natasha Victoria Lucas.

Tony and Natasha will each share their own story and experiences on how their brands were created and developed.

Tony is the founder and creator of Ninja Spiki and developed the Mai Hiro brand by focusing on strong character design and illustration. He brought his vision to life through his “Design By Belief” motto and has had the opportunity to collaborate with companies such as Kidrobot and Gibson Guitars.

Natasha’s love of food, photography, and travel, led her to begin her own food and travel blog, YummyTraveler.com, 5 years ago. She also does Food Styling & Photography and has worked with many reputable restaurants such as, Union Group, Opco Group, and Pullman Hotel. Currently, Natasha has her own culinary television show, named after her blog, “Yummy Traveler,” which has been aired on the Foodie Channel (First Media).

I took a few photos of the inside of the school.

Students started to arrive. This class was made up of design and media students.

Thank you so much, Natasha, for helping with this entire event. It was such an honor to work with her.

Be sure to check out Natasha’s food and travel blog: YummyTraveler.com.

During this event, we did a giveaway for students who participated in our social media contest.

    Here is our winner!

Thank you to all the UC students who came out to the event.

After the event, the school staff gave us a special tour for their art classroom. It was amazing to see their international art wall, done by students.

The event was free to the public. For more information about Ciputra University, please visit: http://www.uc.ac.id.

Monopole Coffee Lab – Surabaya, Indonesia

On one morning, in Surabaya, Budi took us to a local coffee shop. Indonesia is famous for producing and brewing their own coffee.

I couldn’t wait to check out Monopole Coffee Lab.

    The interior was very industrial.

The wall art and decorations show the coffee-making process.

You can see this amazing looking coffee drip machine.

    The staff is friendly.

The Taro Latte caught my eye on the menu, right away. The flavor was delicious! I highly recommend ordering this for anyone who is a huge fan of taro or ube.

A cold drip order for my friend, Natasha. This was also my first time watching her blog about her coffee experience for her followers.

Natasha shared some of her photo tips with me so it was great to learn from her.

She took some awesome photos for me too!

Monopole Coffee Lab is such a nice place to start the morning and they have several different locations. If you’re ever in Surabaya, come check this spot out.
