    Ippudo – Jakarta , Indonesia

I finally got the chance to experience the famous Ippudo Ramen.I’ve heard a lot about this successful ramen restaurant and that it’s open worldwide.Luckily, while I was at the Pacific Place Mall, trying to find the “I Love Ugly” x Jansport backpack, I was excited to see that Ippudo was nearby and that we’d be going there for dinner. The Ippudo brand was very modern and had some cool manga/deco-inspired pieces.

I loved the art installation and the owners really made this place a mix between modern Western and Eastern cultures.

Since I’m an art person, I tend to always check out a restaurant’s menu and I like to see how each company brands themselves. I find inspiration in branding and marketing. The Ippudo menu is really well-designed with a simple layout.

Let’s chow down! Here’s where we decided to sit.

SALMON SALAD / Freshly diced salmon served with assorted greens and wasabi dressing.

SAIKORO STEAK / Grilled rib eye steak cubes on hot plate served with asparagus, carrots, and broccoli topped with teppan sauce.

SHIROMARU MOTOAJI with Shiromaru Tamago / IPPUDO’s original tonkotsu broth served with ultra thin noodles, pork loin, bean sprouts, kikurage & spring onions. Classic Hakata-style ramen. You can even choose how hard you want your noodles!

Address: Pacific Place Lt. 5, Unit 5.37, SCBD, Jl. Jend. Sudirman Kav. 52-53, Daerah Khusus Ibukota Jakarta, Indonesia

Brightspot Market 2015 / Food culture – Jakarta, Indonesia

Last year I attended the local fashion trade show called, “ Brightspot Market,” in Indonesia. The show was great and had some really nice high-end, local indy brands. This year’s event was even bigger and featured food, home goods, and clothing.

Andry Suriaputra, which is one of my favorite chefs and the owner of The Fctry Bistro & Bar, attended the event and showed off his new treats, @dopenutsid. I was able to try his amazing green tea and red bean donuts. Or should I say DOPEnuts?! They were DELICIOUS!

Brightspot Market 2015 / Vendor – Jakarta, Indonesia

This year’s “Brightspot Market” was broken up into different sections — food, home decor, and apparel. I was able to check out what’s cool from some local brands. I was really impressed with the quality produced by the local brands and it was very interesting to see the trend and style growing amongst local designers.

Check out some of our local friends, such as, “Lima Watch” which is a line of designer wooden watches.

  • Spiki’s Java Adventure 2015 – Orlando to Jakarta

Spiki’s Java Adventure 2015 – Orlando to Jakarta

One year ago, it was just an idea. This year, that idea became a reality when Spiki’s “Java Adventure” went on the road and headed to Indonesia. The project started in Jakarta and went on to Surabaya and Bali.My journey began from Orlando to Washington, D.C., then to Japan, and finally Jakarta. It took more than 24 hours to arrive in Indonesia!

Early morning choice: Starbucks or smoothie. I decided to go the healthy route and chose the smoothie as the winner! (Shoutout to my red lucky Spiki cat for being my my travel companion!)

This was my first time stopping in Washington, D.C. I had to take the subway train to get to international terminal.

I arrived at Narita International Airport in Japan 13 hours later.

Looks like we were still on time to Jakarta but still have another 8 hours to go.

I finally arrived to Jakarta, Indonesia. Special thanks to Joshua for picking me up!

More to come in the next blog 🙂
